Super Eagles of Nigeria have suffered yet another injury worry after Real Sociedad in-from man Umar Sadiq has pulled out of this year’s AFCON despite being part of the team that travelled to Abu Dhabi.
Sadiq got a knock during the team’s Pre-Tournament 2-0 friendly loss against Guinea in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Former Southampton hitman Paul Onuachu, originally on the 40-man shortlist, was drafted to replace the injured Sadiq as the team traveled to Abidjan, Côte D’Ivoire.
Nigeria is in the same group with host Côte D’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea and will start their journey with Guinea-Bissau on Sunday.
Since leaving England to play for Trabzonspor, he has been in fine form, scoring 9 goals and making three assists in just 15 games and Super Eagles fans will be delighted to see him replicate this form for his country of birth.
